First built in 1897, the lodge is known for its unique architecture and distinctive milieu. There are huge timbers in the walls, large and solid fireplaces and an interior that is reminiscent of old country parlours. Here you can dream back to yesteryear. The ambience of the lodge and the majesty of its surroundings impress even experienced hikers.

There are many summer hike and winter ski tour choices. The lodge also is part of the Quadrangle year-round tour between Blåhammarstugan (Sweden), Storerikvollen, Nedalshytta and Sylstationen (Sweden).

Storerikvollen is staffed from Easter to 1st May and in the summer season, and offers 65 bunks in two-bunk, four-bunk and six-bunk rooms. There's also a larger bunk room used when the other rooms are booked. The lodge has showers. Overnight guests are served a three-course dinner and breakfast the morning after. Licenced for sale of beer and wine. Kiosk merchandise for sale. In the off season during the rest of the year, it offers self-service lodging in a separate cabin with 16 bunks, available by using the DNT cabin key.

Access: By car or bus to Ås i Tydal. Onward by car or taxi on the toll road to the Sjursvollen carpark; from there, a four km kike to the lodge. In winter, by bus or car to Ås i Tydal. Carpark at Østby; from there, a 24 km year-round marked route in to the lodge. Alternatively, by train to Meråker, taxi to Bjørneggen, and from along a 24 km year-round marked route to the lodge.

Access

Summer: Med bil eller buss til Ås i Tydal. Videre med bil eller taxi langs bomveg til P-plassen, Sjursvollen, derfra 4 km langs vei eller sti inn til hytta.

Winter: Vinterstid med buss eller bil til Ås i Tydal. P-plass ved Østby, derfra 24 km helårsmerket småkupert løype inn til hytta. Alternativt med tog til Meråker, drosje eller bil til Bjørneggen og derfra 24 km helårsmerket løype inn til hytta.
