Finsehytta (1223 AMSL)

Finsehytta is a magnificent starting point for southward on the Hardanger Pleateau or northward into Skarvheimen, the collective name for the ranges that lie north of the Bergen Railway Line and south of the Jotunheimen. The lodge lies midway between Hardangerjøkulen and Hallingskarvet. With trains almost to the door, the lodge is the base for ski touring until late May.

In summer, Finsehytta is a natural lodging for all who cycle the Rallarvegen as well as a starting point for the scenic trip down the Aurland Valley.

Seasons: In winter, open from mid March until early May. In summer, open from late May until mid September.

Extended stays of three days or more can be booked by contacting the lodge directly.

Facilities: Finsehytta has 150 bunks in rooms of 2 to 6 bunks each and in a dormitory.

Access: Summer or winter, you can travel to Finse by train, from either Oslo or Bergen. The lodge is just a ten-minute walk or ski from the railway station. Finse has no road, but you can drive part of the way there. If you drive from the East, park at Geilo or Ustaoset on National Road 7 and take a train from there; if you drive from the west, we recommend that you park at Voss on E6 and take a train from there.

Summer: Tog til Finse fra Oslo eller Bergen. Finsehytta ligger 10 minutter fra Finse stasjon. Skal du kjøre bil østfra anbefaler vi at du parkerer på Geilo eller Ustaoset. Kommer du vestfra anbefaler vi parkering på Voss. Derfra tar du toget videre til Finse.
