Nedalshytta nestles in a birch forest under the mighty Syl massif (1762 m elevation). From the lodge, there's a view toward Skarddørsfjella and out over Nedalen and Nesjøen.
It's the main gateway to Sylan from the Norwegian side and is part of the popular year-round quadrangle route between Blåhammarstugan (Sweden), Storerikvollen, Nedalshytta and Sylstationen (Sweden).
In the area around the lodge, there are exciting choices for day tours, which makes it a good base for families with children who wish to stay in one place. The Syl massif is a paradise for summit enthusiasts, with Syl Peak (1762 m) unquestionably its most popular summit.
Nedalshytta is staffed at Easter and in summer. In off season, it offers self-service lodging (24 bunks), available by using the DNT cabin key.
In Sylan, there are 760 km of permanently marked winter routes, 310 km on the Norwegian side of the border and 450 km on the Swedish side. It's one of the world's largest contiguous network of winter ski trails. The routes, which are marked year round, meander in the mountains between more than 20 lodges.
